The Countryman Tenor Banjo is fitted with four metal strings and built to standard scale. It is ideal for either jazz pitch tuning (CGDA) or lower irish pitch (GDAE). The tenor banjo is usually played with a plectrum, either for strumming chords or picking out a tune. It is a good quality melody instrument excellent for accompaniment playing and equally good for individual play. It has been suggested that the tenor banjo is a good starter instrument as it is relatively easy to learn.
The Countryman Tenor Banjo has a rosewood fingerboard, mahogany high gloss resonator back and remo banjo head. It is fitted with pearlised machine heads.
