White tanned sheep leather. This tanned sheep leather is the traditional leather used for organ work such as bellows and larger percussion motors. It also has many other applications in general organ building.
As leather is a natural product thickness obviously does vary but generally the thickness is approximately 0.8-1.2 mm.
This leather is sold per square, each square equates to the approximate area of a piece 12” x 12” (305 mm x 305 mm). If you require 3 square then just order 3 in the quantity and we will pick a suitable skin or skins that equate to that area.

Please note, as this is a natural product, the colour may vary depending on our stock. It can vary from pure white to off white, to cream. Hence if you require a uniform colour for a particular task, please order your leather in one order as we may not be able to guarantee a colour match on a future order.

Please note the message box only transmits the message on placing an order. This is useful if you require specific dimensions ie. you want to buy 2 square but you require it 24" x 12" and we can cut it accordingly. Please note that most full sheep skins will be on average 4 to 6 square in area, therefore it is not always possible to cut larger exact sizes from a skin. This is due to the shape of the natural skin, and the variations in thickness, quality and flaws found in a natural product. When calculating your requirement it is always good practice to add an extra percentage to allow for this.

As sheep skins are only on average 4 to 6 square in area when covering larger components such as bellows etc, joins may be required.

If you have very specific sizes and need advice, please contact us by email before ordering to discuss what stock we have available. If you do not give us a specific size when ordering we will assume an area of leather equivalent to the amount of square that is ordered will suffice and will be supplied accordingly. This leather will not always be exactly a square or rectangular shape, it will be to the equivalent square area ordered and may include curved or shaped section as cut from the natural skin.

Important Notice

Please note leather is a natural animal product and as such, is not uniform and will contain natural flaws in the skin including sometimes pin holes etc and will vary in thickness. By purchasing from us you agree and understand this and accept that natural flaws and thickness variations are an inherent fact of purchasing natural leather and therefore is not a reason to return the skin for refund.

It is normal organ building practice to always order slightly more leather than you require so you can cut out or avoid such natural flaws that may occur within the skin.
